“I wondered if I could play you a cover of an Eminem song tonight?” Ed asked the 65,000+ fans in Ford Field on Saturday night before launching into an acoustic cover of Eminem’s 2002 hit “Lose Yourself.”

As shown in the Instagram video posted by both artists, Eminem then rose up from underneath the stage to join Ed halfway through the first verse to an explosive applause.

Eminem grew up in a suburb of Detroit near 8 Mile Road, which inspired the title of his autobiographical film, 8 Mile.

“[Eminem] was going to come on and do one song, and I said you can’t come on in Detroit and just do one song. Do you want another song?” Ed asked the crowd before the duo teamed up for an even older track — “Stan,” from The Marshall Mathers LP (2000).

This was far from the first time Ed and Eminem have worked together. After they collaborated in 2018 on “River,” Ed joined Eminem for his Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction celebration just last year. Eminem also made an appearance on Ed’s No. 6 Collaborations Project album in 2019, joining 50 Cent on the track “Remember the Name.”
