Kurupt Reveals Eminem Paid for His Rehab During Sobriety Journey

“You know these things cost bread, so Em put the cheese up for it,” Kurupt said on Shade 45’s “Sway in the Morning.”

During an appearance on Shade 45’s “Sway in the Morning,” legendary West Coast rapper Kurupt revealed that Eminem covered the cost of his rehab after learning Kurupt was struggling with addiction.

Kurupt explained that it all began with a call from Dr. Dre, who reached out to offer encouragement and let him know he wasn’t alone.

“It was Dr. Dre that called me, literally, and was just giving his support,” Kurupt said. “It was Em who came to the table like, ‘I’m going to put Kurupt with my folks and put some money into getting him into a rehab situation.'”

Kurupt said Eminem wanted him to receive treatment privately, away from the spotlight.

“You know these things cost bread, so Em put the cheese up for it,” Kurupt said. “He put me with Em’s folks, so that was real special to me.”

The rapper said he was deeply moved by the gesture, especially because it came without hesitation.

“He just came out the blue from nowhere,” Kurupt said. “‘Okay, Kurupt going through that. Bam. Boom. I’mma do that, man. Tell Kurupt get well, we love him.’ That’s deep.”
