The Chris Cornell estate released a 2016 cover of Guns N’ Roses‘ 1989 hit “Patience” Monday, July 20, on what would have been the iconic artist’s 56th birthday — and SiriusXM’s Octane (Ch. 37) will be playing the moving cover all week long.Early Monday morning, Chris’ widow Vicky posted on Cornell’s Facebook, explaining that the cover was recorded in honor of their daughter, Toni, who was a huge GNR fan.
She went on to say, “His birthday seemed the perfect time to share this and celebrate Chris — his voice, music, stories, and art. A man is not dead while his name is still spoken … and, through his art, an artist’s soul still burns as bright upon all those that look up to him and his memory. Releasing music that was special to Chris keeps a part of him here with us — his heart and his soul; his love and his legacy.”
