The Cool Jazz Countdown is an hour program that highlights the Top Ten Jazz albums of the week within the traditional and contemporary genres. The Cool Jazz Countdown shares the latest information about the artists featured, including biographical information, little known facts and background information about current projects. The show also has special features such as the “New Music Feature” and “On the Line”. The Cool Jazz Countdown is produced by Morgan State University.
Outlook On Agriculture Mondays 10 am, Thursdays 2 pm, & Fridays 9 am ET
Outlook On Agriculture is a thirty-minute program that discusses the latest issues in the world of Agriculture. The program will also discuss current issues dealing with health and wellness and highlight some of the leading professionals who are staff members of Prairie View A&M University. Outlook on Agriculture is produced by Prairie View A&M University.
LaRachelle S. Smith, a 1994 graduate of Prairie View A&M University with a B.S in Mechanical Engineering, began her career as a Project Engineer working in aerospace. A passion for information technology and entrepreneurship led her to internet marketing and eventually a Blog Talk Radio show discussing various topics from community service to inspirational guest interviews. Upon earning an MBA in 2009, LaRachelle came to Prairie View A&M University in the College of Agriculture and Human Sciences and currently serves as the Director of Marketing, Communications and Information Technology and host of “Outlook on Agriculture."
Marcellus “Bassman” Shepard
Marcellus “the Bassman” Shepard has been rocking the airwaves for the last 20 years and is known for having one of the most distinctive voices in radio! He was voted as one of the top 20 DJ’s in the country (RadioFacts.com). The Bassman is a graduate of Morgan State University where he kicked off his radio career at WEAA-FM. Since then, he has worked in both commercial and public radio as a Music and Program Director. He brings all of his knowledge, expertise and personality to the table as co-host of the nationally syndicated Cool Jazz Countdown.
Kyle LaRue began his radio career in Philadelphia at Temple University’s WRTI-FM while pursuing a degree in Mass Media and Telecommunications. Upon graduation, he joined the staff of Morgan State University’s WEAA-FM in Baltimore. Under Kyle’s guidance as Program Director, the station earned Gavin Magazine’s “Jazz Station of the Year” honors in 1999, and he earned a personal nomination as “Jazz Programmer of the Year” in 2000. Kyle brings his expertise each week as a jazz radio broadcaster, writer and program producer…as well as his passion for all genres of music…to the Cool Jazz Countdown!
