Gillian Anderson and Billie Piper — costars in Netflix’s new movie “Scoop” about how the women of Newsnight secured Prince Andrew’s infamous interview — talked to Radio Andy hosts Jess Cagle and Julia Cunningham about pivoting out of the roles for which they were best known.

Gillian starred in “The X-Files” for nine years until she transitioned to film in “House of Mirth.” Before acting, Billie had a successful music career with a UK number-one single in 1998.

“When I got the job [on ‘The X-Files’], I had no idea it was going to go for that long, and I thought at the most it would go a couple years, maybe,” Gillian says in the video. “This kind of film — or the first proper film that I did, ‘House of Mirth’ — this is what I always thought that I would be doing.”
