Kenny Stills knew there was more than a decent chance he could end up elsewhere.

That’s the nature of NFL free agency.

‘This is where I wanted to be’

The fact the wide receiver is going to remain with the Miami Dolphins, however, makes him happy on multiple counts. One, he believes the four-year, $32-million contract he signed was the “best deal” for him. Two, he is part of what he sees as a team that, after reaching the playoffs last season, will continue to develop into a solid contender.

“I knew that there was opportunity to go out there and maybe make a splash and find myself in another home,” Stills told Bruce Murray and Maurice Jones-Drew on the SiriusXM Blitz. “But this is where I wanted to be and I was really comfortable with the contract that we got negotiated and I’m really happy about it and so I’m happy continue to build with this team and these guys and this staff, and I think we can do something special here.

‘I know these guys want to come back ready to go’

“We’ve got a strong rookie class last year of guys that came in here and helped this team. And to get a taste of the playoffs the way we did and get knocked out pretty quick, it leaves guys hungry and so I know that these guys want to come back ready to go. And I’m going to do everything in my power to lead these guys and I know Ryan (Tannehill’s) going to do the same and (defensive tackle Ndamukong) Suh on defense. And I’m so happy that (defensive end Andre) Branch is coming back as well.

“We know what we’ve got, we believe in each other. And we’re a young, hungry group, and we’re going to come ready to play next year.”
