Drake Maye Reveals Peyton Manning Gave Him Super Bowl Advice
New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye joined SiriusXM NFL Radio hosts Bruce Murray and Rich Gannon on Super Bowl LX Opening Night, where he shared the advice that offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and former quarterback Peyton Manning gave him ahead of the big game.
“I think one of the best things [McDaniels] has done this week is try to remind me to keep my week the same … Try to keep the schedule the same as much as you can,” Maye told Murray and Gannon. “It’s going to be hard, you’re in a different environment, but try to keep the same thing going into this [Super Bowl] week.”
When asked if he’d reached out to any veteran players for advice, Maye revealed that Peyton Manning actually reached out to him first — and shared the same advice as McDaniels about keeping his schedule the same.
“It’s really full circle because I was at this game 10 years ago when Peyton won against the Panthers,” Maye said. “That was the year my dad brought me, so it’s a pretty cool moment to kind of get to know some of these guys that I looked up to … It’s pretty special that now they’re reaching out to me and taking their time out of their day to try to help me try to go win the big one. So it means the world, and it’s pretty cool.”
