Joe Namath Praises Aaron Rodgers, Hopes He Can Lead Jets to the Super Bowl

Joe Namath appeared on SiriusXM NFL Radio on May 8 and shared his thoughts on Aaron Rodgers, the new starting quarterback of the New York Jets. Speaking to hosts Bruce Murray and Rich Gannon on “The SiriusXM Blitz,” Namath had high praise for Rodgers, calling him the best football player he’s ever seen.

“I’ve never seen anyone play better football,” Namath said. “I know [Tom Brady]’s got some championships under his belt, and that’s special. But I’ve never seen anybody move around as well or better than Rodgers does. Throw under run, do this and, you know, never looks like he’s in doubt.”

Namath’s comments are significant given his own legendary status in the football world. Known for leading the Jets to their first and only Super Bowl victory in 1969, Namath is widely regarded as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. “With Aaron, man, we kind of feel like we know we can do it,” he said. “The team should feel that way. I mean, they’re improving. The draft choices they brought in, Joe Douglas, in just a couple of few short years, has put together some good players. But competition is keen, man, and Lady Luck plays a role.”
