During an exclusive SiriusXM Front Row special in the Miami studios, singer-songwriter Ryan Tedder from OneRepublic spoke with SiriusXM Hits 1 hosts Mack and Jen about missing out on the opportunity to work on Taylor Swift’s 2012 “Red” album.

“We tried, actually, funnily enough, she reached out to me to work on ‘Red,’ and we just couldn’t get our calendars to align, which was my mistake, actually,” Tedder said. “I should have canceled my s—t, and I should have done it.”

He added, “I remember sitting in a radio station in Atlanta, Georgia, hearing ‘Shake It Off,’ going, ‘Oh, I messed up. What did I do?'”

“Red” was certified 8x Platinum by the RIAA in September 2025, the same time “Red (Taylor’s Version)” went 6x Platinum. The “Shake It Off” single was certified Diamond in March 2020.

Tedder later went on to work with Swift on her 14x Platinum 2014 album “1989,” including the tracks “Welcome to New York” and “I Know Places.”

Ryan Tedder’s SiriusXM Front Row special premieres today (Friday, April 3) at 12pm ET, during the “Hits 1 Miami with Mack & Jen” show. Tune in to hear about the new era of OneRepublic and their new song, “Need Your Love.”
