The show goes on as On Broadway hosts reflect on a unique year without live theater
Hear the channel’s hosts come together to reflect on a year without Broadway before the channel ushers in an all-new show featuring some of The Great Bright Way’s biggest stars.
It’s been an unimaginable year without Broadway. On March 12 at 9am ET, the anniversary of the shutdown, On Broadway (Ch. 72) channel hosts will come together to give their regards to Broadway with a salute to all the incredible shows that we’re missing in Times Square. Join Seth Rudetsky, Christine Pedi, and Julie James as they carry the torch of theater with music and memories to continue to “keep the lights on” so you can stay connected until Broadway’s triumphant return. After its premiere, hear the special again on March 12 at 3pm and 8pm ET, March 13 at 12pm and 11pm ET, and March 14 at 6pm ET.And the show goes on when the channel also launches an all-new weekly show on March 17 at 2pm ET. After a year of extended “intermission” for theater due to the pandemic, On Broadway is making sure fans can still enjoy a Two Show Day guest-hosted by favorite stars of The Great Bright Way. Each playlist of songs has been personally chosen by its featured artist, and includes rare insights and backstories. Not only does the artist give you a window into memories and stories of their own stage roles, but they’ve handpicked some of their all-time favorite show tunes — from throwback high school roles, to unforgettable first Broadway-show experiences, to the inspiring performers that made them want to create their own life in the theater!
Two Show Day will launch with Lea Salonga, the Tony Award-winning Miss Saigon star and beloved Disney princess Jasmine from the original animated Aladdin. Other upcoming guest hosts include Oscar, Tony, GRAMMY, and Golden Globe winner Joel Grey, current Jagged Little Pill Tony nominees Lauren Patton and Celia Rose-Gooding, Tony nominee Joshua Henry (Carousel), Patti Murin (Frozen), Colin Donnell (Jersey Boys, TV’s Chicago Med), Jawan Jackson (Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations) and cast members from Disney’s The Lion King and Aladdin, with many more to come.
On Broadway will bring a “matinee” and “evening performance” to theater-starved fans across the country, presenting Two Show Day on Wednesdays at 2pm and 8pm ET and Saturdays at 9am and 5pm ET. SiriusXM is thrilled to keep theater performers in the spotlight during this time of extended pause, and connect listeners to their favorite stars until they can see them on stage once again.
