Since opening on Broadway last summer, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s buzzed-about musical “Hamilton” has scored a record 16 Tony Award® nominations, including Best Musical, and has earned Miranda the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Celebrities, politicians, and (let’s face it) pretty much anyone who can get their hands on a ticket have flocked to see the story of one of America’s Founding Fathers, Alexander Hamilton, brought to life with a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B, and Broadway.

SiriusXM is excited to present an exclusive Town Hall special featuring the Tony Award®-nominated cast and creative team of the Broadway musical “Hamilton.”  The Q&A session, hosted by Anderson Cooper, premieres on On Broadway at 6pm ET on Friday, May 20.

“I’ve been absolutely amazed at the response we’ve gotten from listeners on ‘Hamilton’ — every single time we play a song on On Broadway, we get listeners taking pics of their display screens, tweeting, tagging,” said On Broadway programming director Julie James. “I’ve never seen any other show create this kind of consistent enthusiasm — maybe even obsession!  That’s why I’m thrilled that we’ll be taking subscribers inside the theatre to get insight from the creators and stars — to hear, in their own words, what their experience has been at this ‘revolutionary’ moment.

She added, “Connecting people around the country to what’s happening on Broadway is what we’re all about, so offering this kind of access to a phenomenon like ‘Hamilton’ is going to be the pinnacle for our listeners!  Even if you can’t score that coveted ticket, you get a virtual seat on stage to hear from Lin and his cabinet!”

SiriusXM’s “Hamilton” Town Hall takes place onstage at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on Monday, May 16, and features “Hamilton” Tony Award® nominee Lin-Manuel Miranda, the show’s creator and star, along with fellow nominees:

  • Howell Binkley (Lighting Designer)
  • Andy Blankenbuehler (Choreographer)
  • Daveed Diggs (Lafayette/Jefferson)

  • Thomas Kail (Director)
  • David Korins (Scenic Designer)
  • Alex Lacamoire (Orchestrations)
  • Leslie Odom Jr. (Burr)
  • Phillipa Soo (Elizabeth Schuyler)
  • Paul Tazewell (Costume Designer)

It also features music from the “Hamilton Original Broadway Cast Recording,” the 2016 GRAMMY Award-winning Best Musical Theatre Album.

Hear it on inactive SiriusXM radios as part of SiriusXM’s free listening preview program, which begins May 18 and runs through June 1. (Some older Sirius satellite radios may not be capable of receiving the free listening preview channels.)

“Hamilton” is the story of America’s Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and was the new nation’s first Treasury Secretary. “Hamilton” is the story of America then, as told by America now.

SiriusXM’s “Hamilton” Town Hall is part of the SiriusXM Town Hall series, featuring iconic entertainers and figures sitting down with studio audiences of SiriusXM listeners. Previous SiriusXM Town Hall specials featured Bruce Springsteen, Billy Crystal, Quentin Tarantino, Carol Burnett, Tom Petty, Willie Nelson, KISS, Coldplay, Ringo Starr, Adele, Elton John, Taylor Swift, Hugh Jackman, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Roger Waters, the surviving members of Nirvana, Gregg Allman, Usher, and Tony Hawk.
