SiriusXM is celebrating Jazz Appreciation Month all month long on Real Jazz and Watercolors, featuring more than 30 exclusive live performances with jazz legends Chick Corea, Hugh Masekela, Wynton Marsalis, Spyro Gyra, Marcus Miller, and David Sanborn.

April 1: Hugh Masekela + Larry Willis
JAM kicks off on April 1 with a SiriusXM exclusive live duet performance of legendary South African trumpeter and vocalist Hugh Masekela and pianist and composer Larry Willis on Real Jazz channel 67 at 3pm Eastern/noon Pacific.

April 5: Hugh Masekela: Celebrating 75 Years
On Saturday April 5th at 8 pm ET, SiriusXM’s Real Jazz broadcasts live from Jazz at Lincoln Center, “Hugh Masekela: Celebrating 75 Years” featuring Masekela with guests in a career retrospective concert as part of the weekly SiriusXM exclusive series, Live From Jazz at Lincoln Center.

April 12: The Life and Music of Dave Brubeck
Other live performances from Jazz at Lincoln Center include The Life and Music of Dave Brubeck with Wynton Marsalis & the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra on April 12....

April 26: The Real Ambassadors
...And the first-ever New York staging of Dave Brubeck's rarely heard 1950s jazz opera masterwork, The Real Ambassadors on April 19th at 8 pm ET.

Watercolors Special Programming
Meanwhile, Watercolors presents “Watercolors at the Show,” supporting and celebrating live contemporary jazz with concert performances recorded from popular venues such as the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA, the Hamilton in Washington, DC, and the 2014 Smooth Jazz Cruise.

Listen each Friday of the month at 7 pm ET and the entire week of April 21 at 6 pm ET for performances by such contemporary jazz stars as Spyro Gyra, BWB, Kirk Whalum, Marcus Miller, Keiko Matsui, and more.

Watercolors Jazz Hall of Fame Ceremony and Concert

The second annual Watercolors Jazz Hall of Fame Ceremony and Concert honors inductees and multiple Grammy-winning musician, Marcus Miller and the late NBA legend and jazz musician Wayman Tisdale in an all-star tribute concert featuring Jonathan Butler, Jeffrey Osborne, Boney James, David Sanborn and more recorded live from the 2014 Smooth Jazz Cruise. The Watercolors Jazz Hall of Fame Ceremony and Concert airs Saturday, April 26th at 6pm eastern with replay on Sunday April 27 at 4pm eastern on SiriusXM’s Watercolors channel 66.

April 12, 19, 26: Jazz for Young People
Wynton Marsalis’ very popular weekly show, Jazz For Young People, will offer brand-new shows recorded in front of an audience of children the music of Dave Brubeck on April 12th,  John Coltrane on April 19th, and Tito Puente on Apr 26th. Jazz For Young People airs Saturdays 1 pm ET on Real Jazz.

April 27: Marcus Miller’s Miller Time
As Jazz Appreciation Month winds down, musician Marcus Miller - UNESCO Artist for Peace and Sirius XM host of the weekly show “Miller Time,” reports from Osaka Japan as preparations are set for the third annual UNESCO International Jazz Day on April 30th.  Marcus Miller’s Miller Time airs Sunday April 27th at 6 pm ET on Real Jazz.

April 30: Spyro Gyra’s “Morning Dance…Revisited”
Closing out the month-long celebration of jazz, contemporary jazz legends Spyro Gyra mark their 40th anniversary as a band with an exclusive SiriusXM special as the band remakes their critically acclaimed 1979 album Morning Dance, track back track in the SiriusXM studios in NY.  Spyro Gyra’s “Morning Dance…Revisited” special airs on Watercolors on Wednesday, April 30th at 4 pm ET.

    Our favorite sonic art is on display each week inside the Gallery, with an hour-long spotlight on the hottest new releases in contemporary jazz. Music and art lovers converge for this tasteful and timely aural presentation.

    The Dave Koz Lounge showcases many of Dave’s favorite tunes as well as music from his influences. He’ll share his stories as a performer over the years, invite some of his fellow musicians to stop by and even interact with his fans.
