Rob Lowe Reveals Why He Never Dated Madonna on ‘Andy Cohen Live’
The actor also discusses his new movie, upcoming third book, and his infamous 1989 Oscars musical number.
Rob Lowe revealed that he once came close to dating Madonna, but a decision not to hit the dance floor may have cost him his chance.
During an appearance on Radio Andy’s Andy Cohen Live to promote his new film, The Musical, Rob recalled making plans to meet Madonna at a party at New York City’s Limelight celebrating one of her albums.
When the “Queen of Pop” headed to the dance floor, Rob stayed behind.
“The next thing I knew, she was married to Sean Penn,” Rob told Andy. “Missed it. I was this close.”

Rob Lowe Announces His Third Book
Rob also revealed that he has written a third book, which he said will be officially announced this week.
The upcoming project follows his memoirs Stories I Only Tell My Friends and Love Life, but Rob teased that readers should expect something different this time.
“It’s in a different genre,” he said.

Decades later, Rob joked that he’s still “dragged” for the performance and “there should be a statute of limitations.”
