Ryan Gosling, ‘Project Hail Mary’ Team Say Neil deGrasse Tyson Approved the Film

The cast and creators of “Project Hail Mary” — Ryan Gosling, Sandra Hüller, Lionel Boyce, Phil Lord, and Christopher Miller — appear in an exclusive “Front Row” event to discuss their new movie with host Julia Cunningham and an audience featuring students from The Bronx School of Science.

During the special, Ryan Gosling and directors Phil Lord and Christopher talk about getting a stamp of approval from Neil deGrasse Tyson and astrophysicist Brian Cox visiting the set; Ryan reflects on how he related to his “Project Hail Mary” character and how he leans on his partner, Eva Mendes; Sandra shares how the Harry Styles song “Sign of the Times” follows her around; and more.

Set in the near future amid a cosmic challenge, “Project Hail Mary” follows Dr. Ryland Grace, a former junior high school science teacher thrust into an interstellar mission. He wakes up on the spaceship Hail Mary to find his crewmates dead and his memory vanished. As Grace gradually realizes, he is Earth’s final hope. The sci-fi adventure film opened in theaters today, March 20.
