Ozzy Osbourne, heavy metal legend and Prince of Darkness, has passed away at age 76.
The tribute to his music and impact continues through Sunday on Ozzy’s Boneyard (Ch. 38) as SiriusXM hosts share their favorite songs and Ozzy moments alongside special archival performances from Ozzy and Black Sabbath.
Born John Michael Osbourne in Birmingham, England, Osbourne rose to fame in the late 1960s as the voice of Black Sabbath, a band widely credited with pioneering the heavy metal genre. With haunting vocals and dark, groundbreaking albums like “Paranoid” and “Master of Reality,” Osbourne helped define a new sound that would shape generations of musicians.
After leaving Black Sabbath, Osbourne launched a hugely successful solo career, releasing iconic albums including “Blizzard of Ozz” and “Diary of a Madman,” and cementing his status as a rock icon with hits like “Crazy Train.”
Beyond music, Osbourne became a cultural figure through the reality show The Osbournes, which introduced his family life to a new generation of fans.
Known as the “Prince of Darkness,” Osbourne’s legacy spans decades of music, controversy, reinvention, and enduring influence. He is remembered as a trailblazer whose impact on rock and metal is immeasurable.
