Gracie Abrams Reveals the Meaning Behind ‘Hit the Wall’ and How Touring Changed Her
Gracie Abrams sat down with SiriusXM Hits 1’s Mikey Piff for an exclusive conversation about her new era. While reflecting on years of nonstop touring, sold-out venues like Madison Square Garden and Red Rocks, and her upcoming album — “Daughter From Hell” — Gracie shared why her new song, “Hit the Wall,” feels like the perfect introduction to this chapter.
The singer-songwriter explained that the single was inspired by emotional burnout and the importance of finally confronting internal struggles instead of ignoring them.
“Sometimes we try to ignore the alarms ringing in our heads, and it just gets louder and louder,” she said. Gracie described “Hit the Wall” as a deeply honest reflection of where she was mentally while creating the album with longtime collaborator Aaron Dessner.
After spending nearly four years constantly on the road, she also opened up about how essential her recent break from touring was for her mental and physical well-being. She spent time reconnecting with everyday routines, including cooking, after years of life on a tour bus.
During the conversation, Gracie also dished on bringing her “nightmares” to life while shooting her newest music video and reflected on her friendship with K-pop soloist and BLACKPINK member JENNIE (calling her an “absolute angel”).

“Daughter From Hell” will arrive July 17 and feature 16 tracks on the standard edition.
