Alanis Morissette is getting into the holiday spirit with new original music — and a collaboration with Martin Short.
During a new episode of of Call Her Daddy with Alex Cooper, talks about holiday music, plus starting her career at a young age and finding her voice in a male-dominated music industry.
She also opens up about pushing against the expectations placed on women, being labeled “too much,” and how the anger and honesty of her music made her a defining voice of the ’90s. Alanis Morissette Details New Christmas Songs
During a new episode of of Call Her Daddy with Alex Cooper, Alanis shared new details about her upcoming holiday album. The legendary singer-songwriter said the album grew out of recording a holiday song each Christmas over the past several years.
“As they were accumulating, and I love them so much, I love singing these songs,” Alanis said. “I wrote a couple of new songs and we just made a record.”
Those originals are titled “To an Empathic Christmas Time” and “Christmas on the Dance Floor.” Alanis called the album a “labor of Christmas love.”

Alanis also revealed that she and Martin Short are teaming up for a Judy Garland song on the album.
She added that her favorite holiday classics to sing include “What Child Is This?” and “Little Drummer Boy.”
