Thomas Rhett Reveals the Meaning Behind New Song ‘Be There in a Minute’
The country star shares how missing his family inspired the single — and why the song almost didn’t make his album.
Thomas Rhett’s new single, “Be There in a Minute,” is an upbeat love song with a deeply personal meaning: the feeling of wanting to get home to his wife, Lauren Akins, and their family.
During an interview with Cody Alan on The Highway (Ch. 56), the country star explained how life on tour inspired the song’s message.
“I love being on the road, but man, at 11:00 on a Saturday night, I cannot get back to my family fast enough,” Thomas said.
The song, which he described as being about the anticipation of reuniting with someone you love, almost never made it onto his forthcoming eighth album.
Written nearly two years ago during a tour-bus songwriting session in Arizona, “Be There in a Minute” was initially left off the record. Thomas rediscovered it while reviewing older songs ahead of a meeting with his label.
“Oh shoot, I forgot that these few were in the Dropbox,” he recalled.
After recording the track at the last minute, Thomas and his team decided it should be the album’s first single.
“It’s funny how songs will find their way back to the top,” he said.
