As she continues to dominate the country music charts, Ella Langley sat down for an exclusive conversation with The Highway (Ch. 56) host Cody Alan to discuss her singles “Choosin’ Texas” and “Dandelion.”

During her interview, Ella also revealed why she decided to name her highly anticipated second album, “Dandelion,” after the song she co-wrote in 2023 with Joy Beth Taylor, Austin Goodloe, and Brett Tyler (and was co-produced by Miranda Lambert and Ben West).

“I was listening to [‘Dandelion’] the day we did the music video for ‘You Look Like You Love Me,’” the 26-year-old singer-songwriter said. “I was showing my makeup artist, Chris Bear. He was in there and the bus is moving, and [imagine] he’s like doing my hair with hot tools and stuff. We’re listening to the song and I said, ‘This is the song ‘Dandelion.’ I thought it’d be a really cool album title.’ And I played him the song, and he said, ‘Did you know that dandelion tea is a natural detox for your liver?’ And when he said that, it was literally like one of those cartoon light bulbs went off over my head. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, a record that I created in my early 20s to a record now in a little bit of my later 20s. I mean, everyone can look at themselves in [their] early 20s and later 20s and be like, ‘There’s a change there.’”

She also revealed how “Dandelion” is the album that will show fans who she really is.

“So with this record, I wanted people to get to know who I am,” Ella added. “I keep saying that ‘Hungover’ was the thing that maybe brought them to the table, but ‘Dandelion’s’ going to be the one that makes them sit down and eat. And for that, this is who I am. I mean, you could listen to this record and not meet me, not listen to me, and you could understand who I was as a person and where I come from and kind of what got me here.”

“Dandelion” Lyrics

Tried leavin’ where I come from, but I’m always gonna go back
I tried sipping on the champagne, but it’s always gonna be Jack
There’s things I can’t change, like how I was raised
The Bible in my blood, and the ‘Bama in my veins
Ain’t a pink bouquet in the flower store
I’m okay if I’m a little more

Dandelion
Born to live free, riding on a breeze
On a summer night
Tucked back in the weeds, guess that’s just me
In a bed of red roses, I’m the one growing up on the wilder side
So if you’re tired of thorns, I’m a little more
Dandelion

No stranger to a dirt road or a country muddy river bank
If you’re picking me, you oughta know
I wasn’t made for a fancy crystal vase
A mason jar and old blue jeans, from my roots to my boots, I’ll always be

A dandelion
Born to live free, riding on a breeze
On a summer night
Tucked back in the weeds, guess that’s just me
In a bed of red roses, I’m the one growing up on the wilder side
So if you’re tired of thorns, I’m a little more
Dandelion
Oh, oh, oh, Dandelion

Been a little overlooked all my life
But if you know where to look
It sounds like you might like

A dandelion
Born to live free, riding on a breeze
On a summer night
Tucked back in the weeds, guess that’s just me
In a bed of red roses, I’m the one growing up on the wilder side
So if you’re tired of thorns, I’m a little more
Dandelion

Whoa, dandelion
Oh, oh, oh, dandelion
Mmm
Dandelion, uh
Been a little overlooked, yeah, all my life
Well, least I made you look me look once or twice

Mmm, dandelion
