Scully, who has interviewed every president since Gerald Ford, also speaks with key politicians and newsmakers and connects with listeners about important topics on their minds.
In addition to his radio show, Scully hosts regular events in collaboration with the Bipartisan Policy Center, where he currently serves as Senior Vice President. These forums, which air on POTUS Politics, encourage fierce debate while also seeking common ground for practical results that will enact real, positive changes for the country.
About the host
In his three-decade career at C-SPAN, Steve Scully served as political editor, host, and senior executive producer of C-SPAN’s programming, including Washington Journal, the Road to the White House series, and its podcast The Weekly. In addition to his work at C-SPAN, Scully initiated a distance learning class, bringing D.C. experts virtually to the University of Denver, Pace University, and Purdue University. He also served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of California-D.C. Program, as well as a Terker Fellow (2019-21) at George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs.
Scully spent nine years on the White House Correspondents’ Association Board of Directors, including as president from 2006-07. In 2019, he was named to the Pennsylvania Broadcasters Hall of Fame. He began his journalism career at WAMU-AM Radio, and later as a reporter at WSEE-TV in Erie, Pennsylvania and WHEC-TV in Rochester, New York.
Scully earned his M.S. degree in journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism in Evanston, Illinois, graduating magna cum laude. Prior to that, he received his B.A. in communications and political science from American University.
