Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling buddy up as down-and-out private eyes investigating a young woman’s disappearance in “The Nice Guys.” But Crowe felt inspired to first reach out to Gosling about a different project years ago.

“I watched a series of his films, three in a row, which made me just want to contact him,” Crowe told Entertainment Weekly Radio’s Clark Collins in a SiriusXM Town Hall with the cop comedy’s cast and creators. “I saw ‘Drive,’ ‘Crazy Stupid Love,’ and ‘Ides of March.'”

“I thought it was ‘Young Hercules,'” cracked Gosling, referencing his 1998 TV series about the mythological Greek hero’s teen years. “No? Well, I’ll get it to you. You should see it.”

“It wasn’t that one where you did the David Arquette impersonation, either,” Crowe, 52, shot back. “What was that?”

“That’s pretty much everything,” Gosling, 35, said sheepishly. “I’ll get you ‘Young Herc.'”

“Thank you. We’ll watch it on the plane,” Crowe said.

Um, can we join that binge session?
