‘Industry’ Star Myha’la Says Lena Dunham Let Her Live in Her NYC Apartment When She Was Broke

The actress also shares the DM that led to meeting her husband, and discusses the show’s final season.

On this week’s episode of “In Your Dreams with Owen Thiele,” Myha’la opened up about the first time she met Lena Dunham during her “Industry” audition and revealed that Lena let her live in her New York City apartment when she was broke.

“I ran out of money maybe nine months into the contract, and I didn’t know what to do,” Myha’la said. “Lena Dunham said, ‘I’m not in my New York apartment. You’re more than welcome to live there, and you can sublease your place so you don’t have to leave,’ and so she basically saved my life.”

“She just made me feel so comfortable,” Myha’la added about meeting Lena. “She was like, ‘You’re amazing. You’re the best.'”

During the episode, Myha’la also revealed that while staying in Lena’s apartment, she received the first Instagram DM from her now-husband, Armando Rivera. What started as a request for a class project interview turned into a 40-minute Zoom call, and eventually, a love story.

Looking ahead to the final season of “Industry,” Myha’la said she hopes viewers feel satisfied with where her character, Harper Stern, ends up.

“I want to push her as hard as we can push her, so that by the end… we all feel satisfied that we can leave her there.”
