Matthew Rhys Tells Conan O’Brien a Netflix ‘Power Broker’ Project Is in the Works
“It’s been pitched. They do want to do it,” the actor reveals on “Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend.”

Today on SiriusXM’s “Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend,” Conan O’Brien sits down with acclaimed actor Matthew Rhys, who confirms there is an adaption of Robert Caro’s “The Power Broker” in the works with Netflix.
“There is a select group of us who have approached a very well-known streaming platform,” Matthew says about “The Power Broker” plans. “But at the moment, dear Mr. Caro, he doesn’t have an issue with handing over the rights to ‘The Power Broker.’ The agencies and publishing houses do. So at the moment, it’s in this stalemate whereby I know the Flix called Net are trying to acquire the rights to ‘The Power Broker.’ It’s been pitched. They do want to do it.”
During the episode, Matthew also recalls when his partner, Keri Russell, slapped him by surprise during their first chemistry read.
“She had to slap me in our chemistry read,” Matthew says. “And the director said, one of the reasons we cast you is because you took that slap so well. And I went, I had no idea she was going to slap me. I was reeling in shock that she did it.”
