Tom Brady has not only hosted “Saturday Night Live” but, over the years, has also been the focus of many sketches.
In the latest episode of “Let’s Go!” with Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald, and Jim Gray, Gray jokingly asked special guest Kenan Thompson why the five-time NFL Super Bowl MVP quarterback has been “an easy target” on the legendary sketch comedy show.
The reason? Both Thompson and Brady, who hosted the show in 2005, agreed it’s because of the football star’s quirkiness.
“You’re on the radar, though,” said Thompson, the longest-tenured “SNL” cast member of all time. “There’s a lot of quirky people out there that nobody cares about … but [parodying] someone that everybody respects knows that that armor can’t be chipped. That allows for the joke-telling to be fun.”
During Thompson’s appearance, the “SNL” great also shared his favorite athlete-hosts, including Charles Barkley, Peyton Manning, and Michael Phelps. He also discussed how sports bring communities together and revealed how, even after 20 years on the long-running NBC show, he still often feels like a rookie.
Additionally, Brady and Fitzgerald talked about the past week in the NFL, plus Fitzgerald and Gray welcomed Joey Logano after the driver’s NASCAR Cup Series Championship victory.
Brady reflected on the Bucs’ dramatic comeback win against the Rams on Sunday and his newest milestone of 100,000 career passing yards. Fitzgerald started the episode talking about Fitzgerald’s adventure in the pace car for the NASCAR Cup Series Championship in Phoenix, before being joined by Logano. Logano talked about his four-year-old son’s love of cars and how much fun it was to experience this alongside him. Lastly, Fitzgerald and Gray discussed the Colts’ firing of Frank Reich, the surprising hire of Jeff Saturday as the interim head coach, Kirk Cousins’ wild celebration after another Vikings win, and more.
