On my LIVE show Saturday morning we will talk topics most people want to avoid having an honest conversation about: Race and religion.
Comedian W. Kamau Bell, host of CNN’s new weekly series United Shades of America, which premieres this Sunday night, joins me to talk his new show that tackles race in a brutally honest and entertaining way. In fact in Sunday’s premiere, he takes on the Klan, who seemed intrigued by a black man like Bell who actually wanted to talk to them. The episode is funny, compelling and unnerving to see how open and proud some white people are to be members of the KKK.
Why is it that the three Abrahamic faiths (Christianity, Judaism and Islam) have so many problems with gays? The Bible expressly calls for gays “to be put to death.” And while there’s no explicit language like that in the Koran, anti-gay laws (including the death penalty) are found in some Muslim countries. In fact over 80 countries (both Muslim and Christian majority) have laws making it a crime to be gay.
Imam Daayiee Abdullah, America’s only openly gay imam, will join me to have an honest conversation about why the three Abrahamic faiths have such an issue with gays. Plus, we will discuss what can be done to counter the anti-LGBT sentiments some hold.
You are my guest. In this segment, you the SiriusXM listener are my guest. Saturday’s topic is:
Is Harriett Tubman on $20 bill “political correctness” or about honoring a person who deserves it? Well, Donald Trump made his view clear calling Tubman on the $20 bill “pure political correctness.” (I wonder if in the 1960s he would’ve called the Civil Rights Act “pure political correctness?”) Unsurprisingly, others on the right share Trump’s view. Is this a fair criticism or is this just conservatives angry at more changes that embrace the growing multiculturalism of America?
Hope you not only tune in to my LIVE show, but join the conversation at 877-974-7487. I want to hear what you think about these issues, plus join us for our weekly “Ask A Muslim” a question segment.
