Coach K Gets Emotional About ‘Surreal’ Final Duke Home Game

“I’m still emotioned out,” Krzyzewski said on the latest episode of “Basketball & Beyond with Coach K.”

Duke head coach Mike “Coach K” Krzyzewski revealed how he felt about his final home game — where Duke lost to rival North Carolina 94-81 at Cameron Indoor Stadium — on a new episode of his exclusive SiriusXM show, “Basketball & Beyond with Coach K.”

“I’m still emotioned out,” Coach K told his co-host, Dave Sims. “Again, and we did not play well against North Carolina. North Carolina played great. It was surreal, really.”

He continued to explain that the buildup ahead of Saturday night felt immense, and the outpouring of support came as a surprise.

“I never anticipated anything. It was more like a thank-you, you know,” he explained. “So appreciative, but it — it’s really… I can’t put into words, Dave.”

Unfortunately, his team’s performance fell short on such a momentous night.

“We weren’t able to translate that to a performance that was at the level of that,” he says. “And we needed it because Carolina was that good.”
