Since the summer, Sameer Gadhia — frontman for chart-topping rock band Young The Giant — has been highlighting handpicked, culturally diverse musical discoveries in the alternative space on his Alt Nation (Ch. 36) spotlight show, Point of Origin. Gadhia’s latest artist to watch is singer-songwriter and rapper KennyHoopla with his song “Lost Cause (feat. Jesse).”

Hosted and curated by Gadhia, Point Of Origin focuses on one artist over a two-week period by granting heavy on-air exposure to one song from the artist, accompanied by Gadhia’s own commentary. For the next 14 days, listeners can catch KennyHoopla’s third and latest release of his song “Lost Cause,” this time featuring guest vocals from The Neighbourhood‘s Jesse Rutherford. The indie artist hails from Cleveland, Ohio, and started receiving acclaim for his first EP on SoundCloud in 2016. KennyHoopla has since earned a high-ranking spot on the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart, as well as releasing his second EP, How Will I Rest in Peace if I’m Buried by a Highway?, this past May.

The first artist to be featured on Point of Origin was Pennsylvania native and Pigeons & Planes New Artist to Watch in 2020, binki, followed by singer-songwriter Simpson with her latest song, “Summer.” Next up was Junior Mesa, a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Bakersfield, California, and his song “Losing My Grip.” Most recently, the show highlighted Austin, Texas-based rapper, singer, and songwriter Abhi the Nomad and his song “Me No Evil.”
