Academy Award-winner Viola Davis thinks that it’s time for characters on TV to be completely authentic, likability be damned.
On “How to Get Away With Murder,” the 52-year-old actress plays Annalise Keating, a hotshot Philadelphia lawyer with a rap sheet longer than the criminals she defends. Davis says that roles featuring Black women tend to be one-dimensional, but on the ABC crime drama, Davis wants her character to explore the full spectrum of human emotion and experience.
She cited Annalise Keating as a “great experiment to where I believe Black women should be going in narratives.”
