How New Edition’s Ronnie DeVoe, Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell, and Mike Bivins Formed RBRM
On tour this fall, RBRM will perform a combination of New Edition, Bell Biv DeVoe, and Bobby Brown songs.
When a group has great chemistry, the members find ways to stay together. Ronnie DeVoe, Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell, and Mike Bivins first performed in the legendary R&B group New Edition. Now, the foursome is hitting the road as RBRM and bringing their trademark harmonies to stages around the US and Canada.
RBRM stopped by the SiriusXM studios for an exclusive Heart & Soul “Up Close & Personal” special, where they shared how they came to collaborate again.
“[RBRM] was talked into fruition 30-something years ago,” Brown told Heart & Soul host Cayman Kelly. “We’re cooler now.”
Although the four have known each other since their time in New Edition, they hadn’t performed together in decades. Brown left New Edition in 1985 to launch a solo career, and Bell, Bivins, and DeVoe formed Bell Biv DeVoe in 1989. But it turned out that the four had planned to tour in 2018, so why not combine forces?
