Meagan Good had no doubt that her career would go to the next level.

During a conversation on SiriusXM FLY (Ch. 50) with host Eutopia, the Reasonable Doubt star revealed that missing a call from Busta Rhymes led to one of the biggest breaks in her career. Listen to her interview in full on the SiriusXM app starting October 14 at 4pm ET.

“I had gotten a call to do the baby if you give it to me, video. I missed it,” Meagan told Eutopia. “And I called my mom, I was so disappointed because I loved that song so much. And she was like, ‘Well you need to start checking your messages.’ And I’m like, ‘Right? It’s OK, cause God’s gonna bring something else.’”

Meagan didn’t realize that the next call would come from 50 Cent.

“And then I got the call to do ’21 Questions,’” she said. “And my manager at the time was like, ‘I don’t know, this guy’s kind of a gangbanger,’ And I’m like, ‘No he’s not a gangbanger.’”

Despite the apprehension from the people around her, Meagan knew that she couldn’t turn down another opportunity.

“I was like to me, this is a national commercial,” she explained. “And it’s not like a movie or a television show. You have to go choose to watch it or it might come across. It’s a national commercial because it’s a music video and it’s going to be playing all the time.”

Taking the job marked a high point in Meagan’s career as 50 Cent and Nate Dogg’s song became a major hit and helped her break away from her identity as a child star.

“I mean, he was the biggest artist at that time,” Meagan said. “I was in that weird stage of trying to transition from child actor to adult actor, I was like, ‘This is how I do it. Is I show them in a national commercial that I have arrived as a young woman now. And that’s exactly what it did for me.”
