Kristin Cavallari Says Going on ‘The Hills’ Was One of the Hardest Decisions She Ever Made
“[The show] made me an offer that I just quite honestly couldn’t refuse,” Kristin told SiriusXM.

During a special cast event with Kristin Cavallari, Talan Torriero, Jessica Evans, Lauren Olsen, and Liz Gateley from Roku’s upcoming “The Reunion: Laguna Beach,” Kristin opened up to SiriusXM host Julia Cunningham about her decision to appear on MTV’s “The Hills” in 2009.
“It honestly was one of the toughest decisions in my life,” Kristin admitted, “and I know that sounds kind of silly, but yes.”
She explained that between the original “Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County” show wrapping up in 2005 and “The Hills” spinoff starring Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag launching in 2006, she was “pretty serious about acting” and wanted to “get out of the tabloid world” to be taken more seriously.
“‘The Hills’ made me an offer that I just quite honestly couldn’t refuse,” Kristin explained. “And I knew, I said, ‘If I go back to reality TV, I have to just be all in, capitalize on it.’ And I was like, ‘Then I can go into the branding world.’ I’m so thankful because obviously it led me to launch Uncommon James, and I mean, it’s just set my life up. But it was a tough decision, yeah.”

Brody Jenner Reveals How Spencer Pratt Secretly Produced ‘The Hills,’ Made Himself the Villain“He did tell me, ‘I want to be the most hated person in the world,’” Brody said on Radio Andy. |
When Julia talked about how “The Hills” marketed Kristin’s return as “the b—h is back,” Kristin revealed that the producers made sure that angle was okay with her first.
“But that was the other thing, too. I knew this character that they wanted me to play, and it was just a matter of fully embracing it and leaning in, or just staying down the path I was currently on,” she said. “And so I just, yeah, I took a left turn, and here we are.”
