On a new episode of Radio Andy’s “Bevelations,” Jason Lee reflected on his relationship with Kanye West.

Jason told host Bevy Smith that while he and Kanye once shared both meaningful and difficult moments, their connection has since faded.

“We’re not that close. We’re not like buddies and texting anymore,” Jason said. “He’s doing his thing and I’m watching from a distance.”

Jason also described his time with Kanye as a mix of highs and intense challenges, emphasizing that his role was rooted in support during a turbulent period.

“I was there in service to what he needed at the time,” he explained. “We had great times and we had stressful times.”

While Lee said he does not believe in cancel culture, he does believe in accountability — and thinks West still has work to do.

“I’m anti-cancel culture. I’m pro-accountability culture,” Jason said. “He still has to reconcile whatever that is that he found himself in with all the different communities.”

Ultimately, Lee revealed there was a moment when he knew he had to step away.

“If I’m with you, I’m gonna ride with you until I gotta get off the car,” he said. “And I had to get off at some point.”
