It’s happening: Sting and Shaggy are officially working on a joint (pun intended) album. The unlikely duo sat down with The Joint’s Pat McKay to talk about why they teamed up, their creative processes, and the album’s island-inspired tracks.
The new duo announced last week that they would be releasing a collaborative album titled “44/876,” while also dropping the first single off the album, “Don’t Make Me Wait.”
Shaggy, who took the production lead on the album, said, “I think what surprised us that day, when the song was done, was how much our voices complemented each other.”
The two have very different creative processes but were inspired by each other’s love for Jamaica and its people — a common theme throughout their reggae-style album.
“I’ve learned a great deal from Shaggy,” the former Police frontman said humbly when talking about how the album, dropping April 20, was created.
