Nearly a month after releasing his 19th album, “Western Stars,” Bruce Springsteen called into E Street Radio while driving home from the gym on Wednesday morning and announced that a “Western Stars” performance film will come out by the end of 2019. The upcoming film is directed by Thom Zimny, the man behind “Springsteen on Broadway” and several other Springsteen films and music videos.

“We made a film of us playing the ‘Western Stars’ album start to finish, plus some other things,” the legendary musician told hosts Dave Marsh and Jim Rotolo. “I knew we weren’t going to tour, so I figured this was the best way to do it.”

Springsteen also said he was excited about the new album’s warm reception and talked about performing with Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes and longtime E Street member Garry Tallent in Asbury Park, NJ, on July 6.
