Founded by Scott and Seth Avett and Bob Crawford in 2001, The Avett Brothers have risen to critical acclaim, performed sold-out tours, and changed lives with their songs about heartbreak, love, joy, and family.

A once-obscure band, The Avett Brothers are finally getting their close-up with a newly released HBO documentary, “May It Last: A Portrait of The Avett Brothers,” which follows the band throughout the creation of their GRAMMY-nominated album, “True Sadness.” Produced and directed by Judd Apatow and Michael Bonfiglio, who were given extensive access over the two years the album was recorded, the documentary gives fans an intimate look at the band from their origins to their recent collaboration with legendary producer Rick Rubin.

Ahead of the documentary’s release, The Avett Brothers, Apatow, and Bonfiglio sat down with SiriusXM host Kurt Loder and fans for an exclusive SiriusXM Town Hall to discuss the documentary.

This family-oriented band, which still resides in North Carolina, has been reflecting on the music they’ve created and how it has affected their fans. Recalling “Divorce Separation Blues,” a track on the recent album, the brothers told a story about a couple they met while performing at a baseball game, who said the song saved their marriage.
