Celebrate the 100th anniversary of John Coltrane’s birth with “Supreme Wednesdays,” a special weekly takeover of SiriusXM’s Real Jazz (Ch. 67) throughout September.
Every Wednesday in September — September 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30 — Real Jazz will dedicate the day to the legendary saxophonist, composer, and bandleader, culminating around Coltrane’s 100th birthday on Wednesday, September 23.

Coltrane 100 and Previously Unheard Music
Throughout 2026, the Coltrane Estate is marking the centennial with COLTRANE 100, a year-long global celebration spanning recorded music, live performances, visual art, and institutional partnerships.
At the center of the celebration is the first-ever release of the long-mythologized Tiberi Tapes, private live recordings captured by musician Frank Tiberi between 1961 and 1965 at clubs across New York and Philadelphia. The previously unheard performances document Coltrane’s musical evolution during a pivotal period in his career and are set for release via Impulse! Records in September.
Impulse! Records has also unveiled the first official music video for A Love Supreme’s opening movement, “Acknowledgement.” Directed by AG Rojas and filmed on black-and-white 16mm film, the video recreates Van Gelder Studio as it appeared when Coltrane recorded A Love Supreme on December 9, 1964.
New Coltrane 100 Career Retrospective
The Centennial celebration continues October 2 with the release of Coltrane 100 – Selections from 1951-1967, a deluxe six-LP audiophile vinyl boxed set and the first comprehensive cross-label career retrospective of Coltrane’s work.
The collection brings together recordings from Prestige, Blue Note, Atlantic, Columbia, and Impulse! to trace Coltrane’s recorded legacy from his early professional recordings in 1951 through his final sessions in 1967. A curated Coltrane 100 – Highlights from 1957-1964 will also be released on two-LP vinyl and CD.

Born in 1926, Coltrane became one of the most transformative artists in the history of modern music, expanding the expressive possibilities of jazz while exploring music as a vehicle for spiritual inquiry and human connection.
During a concentrated decade of extraordinary creative output, Coltrane released 25 albums as a leader and moved fearlessly through blues, bebop, modal jazz, and the avant-garde. His influence has extended far beyond jazz to generations of artists working in rock, hip-hop, classical, experimental music, and more.
More than five decades after his passing, Coltrane’s recordings remain cornerstones of American music. His honors include a Pulitzer Prize Special Citation, a GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award, multiple inductions into the GRAMMY Hall of Fame, and a U.S. commemorative postage stamp.
