RZA Says Wu-Tang’s Game 4 Halftime Show Sparked the Knicks’ Historic Comeback

The leader of the Wu-Tang Clan reflected on the Knicks’ championship on a new episode of his SiriusXM show.

Days after the New York Knicks won their first NBA championship in 53 years, RZA said he believes Wu-Tang Clan’s halftime performance during Game 4 helped spark the team’s historic comeback against the San Antonio Spurs.

On a new episode of RZA’s “Wu Wednesdays” on LL COOL J’s Rock The Bells Radio (Ch. 43), a fan asked the legendary rapper, producer, and filmmaker whether Wu-Tang played a role in the Knicks’ June 10 victory in which they trailed by 29 points.

“The first thing goes to the hard work of the coach and the players… but energy is everything,” the RZA said. “You know what I mean? Energy can multiply. And so when the Wu-Tang came with that energy, we put a spark.”

“So I like to tell people we lit that wick that led to that explosion because somebody had stepped on that wick the night before,” the RZA added. “I think, you know what I mean? I ain’t gonna say no names.”

Then, after DJ Scratch argued that the iconic Staten Island hip-hop group deserved 51% of the credit for the Knicks’ win, RZA embraced the idea and pointed to the final score:

“Somebody said a joke to me. They said, ‘Yo, they won by 1. That’s all it took. And if y’all even added that 1 point, you got that victory.'”
