This captivating series showcases the extraordinary works of living composers from a multitude of backgrounds, reflecting the vibrant mosaic of cultures that shape the United States. Featuring performances by world-renowned ensembles and insights from the composers themselves, this series is a celebration of the American spirit in all its forms. It’s about music that challenges, inspires, and unites us.
Each week, “Living American” presents music composed by Americans (including new American citizens) whose music:
- Reflects the times we live in
- Asks questions about our American life, and where we may be headed
- Speaks of the still imaginable and achievable American Dream
- Celebrates America the Beautiful and America the Hopeful
