Classic Vinyl Airs Chicago’s Exclusive SiriusXM Concert at the Whisky a Go Go in Los Angeles
“Celebrating our 50th anniversary, we can’t wait to perform at the legendary venue again,” founding Chicago member Robert Lamm said.

Chicago returns to the Whisky a Go Go in Los Angeles for the first time since the beginning of their career.
In celebration of their 50th anniversary, the GRAMMY Award-winning rock band will perform a special, invitation-only show for SiriusXM on Monday, June 5, airing live on Classic Vinyl at 11pm ET and featuring songs from their five-decade-long career. A special pre-show broadcast starts at 10pm ET.
“We did play the Whisky a Go Go a couple of times in the early ’70s as a benefit, and thank you to Elmer Valentine for giving us frequent gigs early,” founding Chicago member Robert Lamm said. “The Whisky is where we met Jimi Hendrix, who subsequently asked us to tour as his opener.”
Lamm continued, “The venue was a magnet for touring artists to hear music when they came through L.A. Crowds of fans and ’60s rock culture mingled on the Sunset Strip. It was a breeding ground for many emerging bands who performed there. Chicago played countless sets for the Sunday—Monday ‘off nights.’ Songs like ’25 or 6 to 4′ and ‘Beginnings’ were rehearsed and first performed there, which, by the way, has always been a great-sounding club.”
He added, “Now, celebrating our 50th anniversary, we can’t wait to perform at the legendary venue again — and excited for our fans to hear us live on SiriusXM.”
Additionally, the band is recording a special edition of the SiriusXM Town Hall series, answering questions from a select group of SiriusXM listeners in the SiriusXM studios in New York City. Hosted by singer-songwriter Rob Thomas, who inducted Chicago into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2016, the special airs Friday, June 16, at 1pm ET on Classic Vinyl.
