Last month, Bonnie Raitt followed up her GRAMMY Award-winning 2012 LP, “Slipstream,” with “Dig In Deep” — her 20th studio album and the second release on her own Red Wing label. Now, in celebration of its success, she stopped by The Loft to open up her storybook with host Meg Griffin as they take you behind the scenes.

“Bonnie Raitt is the real deal in a world gone too cosmetic and synthetic,” Griffin said about the iconic guitarist and songwriter, who wrote five of the new album’s tracks. “Her new album, ‘Dig In Deep,’ shows off her signature fired-up slide guitar playing as well as her ability to deeply touch the ballad lovers.”

Among Griffin’s favorite tracks off the effort are “What You’re Doin’ To Me,” on which “[Bonnie’s] experience learning from and playing with Blues Masters like BB King is evident.”

She’s also a big fan of “The Comin’ Round Is Going Through,” on which Raitt’s “consistent watchful eye over the little people speaks truth about the struggle,” and the piano-driven “The Ones We Couldn’t Be,” on which Griffin says Raitt’s “ability with a ballad has never touched me more.”

The album also features covers of INXS and Los Lobos with guest appearances from Jon Cleary and Maia Sharp and backing from her longtime touring band: George Marinelli (Guitar), Hutch Hutchinson (Bass), Ricky Fataar (Drums), and Mike Finnigan (Keyboards).

Tune in for the in-depth special on Thursday, March 24, at 12pm ET and again at midnight.
