Chris Hillman, Herb Pedersen, and The Shelters Take on Tom Petty’s ‘Feel A Whole Lot Better’
Some of Tom’s closest friends and collaborators came together to put their own spin on the track.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Tom Petty’s “Full Moon Fever.” In honor of the influential album, some of Tom’s closest friends and collaborators came together to put their own spin on Petty’s take of “Feel A Whole Lot Better,” which premiered exclusively on Tom Petty Radio.
Chris Hillman was an automatic choice, since Petty was a huge Byrds fan and produced Hillman’s solo album, “Bidin’ My Time,” in 2017.
Herb Pedersen was in the Desert Rose Band with Hillman and toured with Petty and Mudcrutch in 2016.
As for The Shelters, Petty got involved with the band very early on, co-producing their debut album in 2016.
Producer/engineer Ryan Ulyate suggested to Hillman and Pedersen that they do a new version of “Feel A Whole Lot Better” (Hillman played on The Byrds original, and it was the last song recorded for “Full Moon Fever”) with The Shelters.
