What’s the sound in the night? Get into the Halloween spirit with the biggest and most frightening music in film history.

Cinemagic brings you hours of original scores from the scariest and most tense moments in horror movie history. Hear the familiar piano sounds of Michael Myers’ Halloween theme, listen for the “Trouble in Woodsboro” (Ghostface), or brace yourself when you hear the bone-chilling theme from The Exorcist, “Tubular Bells.”

Let Ludwig Göransson’s award-winning scores from Sinners help you find your way out (or into Club Juke), or Douglas Pipes’ jazzy overture be the soundtrack as you Trick ‘r Treat.

No matter your plans or costume, you’ll have the perfect background music for spooky season. Check out our list of some of the greatest scores from Cinemagic’s Sounds of Horror mix.

1. John Carpenter: “Halloween 1978 (Main Theme)”

John Carpenter wasn’t only responsible for bringing the character of Michael Myers to life in 1978’s Halloween — he also arranged the titular score that plays whenever the slasher of Haddonfield, Illinois, is creeping toward his next victim.

2. Marco Beltrami: “Trouble in Woodsboro” (Scream)

There is no denying the trouble that follows this classic score from Scream that is the soundtrack to Sidney Prescott’s tangos with Woodsboro’s resident slasher, Ghostface.

3. Bernard Herrmann: “The Murder” (Psycho)

The cue from Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 horror classic Psycho plays during the infamous shower murder sequence.

4. Ludwig Göransson ft. Lars Ulrich: “Hole Up ‘Til Sunrise” (Sinners)

Ludwig Göransson’s award-winning score from Sinners brings Club Juke (and the vampires) to life with the help of Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich.

5. Mike Oldfield: “Tubular Bells” (The Exorcist)

As if the film isn’t scary enough, Mike Oldfield composed a 26-minute cue for 1973’s The Exorcist that would make your head spin…if you let it.

6. Douglas Pipes: Trick ‘r Treat (Main Title)

Just like the 2009 film, Trick ‘r Treat, there’s more to the main title. What starts off as a cue that is family-friendly for spooky season, quickly turns grim.

7. Charlie Clouser: Saw (Main Theme)

Maybe there is something scarier than Jigsaw…the music from Saw. Nine Inch Nails alum Charlie Clouser’s compositions are the bone-chilling warning that there’s a set of unfortunate instructions coming your way.

8. Michael Abels: “Hypnosis” (Get Out)

Beware of the music that will trap you in the Sunken Place, composed by Michael Abels for 2017’s Get Out.

9. Wendy Carlos: The Shining (Main Theme)

Wendy Carlos brought the misfortunes of the Torrance family inside the Overlook Hotel to life with her cue for the 1980 film by Stanley Kubrick.

10. Howard Shore: “The Asylum” (The Silence of the Lambs)

It’s hard not to think about the horrors of Dr. Hannibal Lecter as Howard Shore’s original score from 1991’s The Silence of the Lambs plays.
