  1. DENNY HAMLIN

Controversy ensued when Hamlin got the jump on the field after the final restart but NASCAR deemed no penalty and the Joe Gibbs racing driver was able to maintain the top spot to score his second victory of the season. Hamlin’s No. 11 pit crew also deserves much of the praise for getting him off pit road with a blistering last stop helping to cement the win.

Last Week: 4TH

  1. WILLIAM BYRON

One week after dominating at COTA, Byron came to Richmond which he considered not one of his best tracks. But a seventh-place finish might say otherwise as the Hendrick Motorsports driver turned in a more than decent performance.

Last Week: 1ST

  1. KYLE LARSON

The Hendrick Motorsports driver was fast at Richmond and led 64 of 70 laps to take the checkered flag in the opening stage. But a pit strategy did not work out for the No. 5 team plus Larson was spun out by Bubba Wallace late in the race, however he still managed to finish third.

Last Week: 5TH

  1. CHRISTOPHER BELL

A pit road speeding penalty completely wiped out Bell’s chance to finish better at Richmond. He had a strong car but finished sixth after getting stuck in traffic. At least there wasn’t any confrontation with Kyle Busch this week for Bell.

Last Week: 3RD

  1. MARTIN TRUEX JR.

A very unhappy camper after the turn of events that ended the race in Richmond and took Truex Jr.’s chance at victory away. He still leads the point standings but Truex Jr. has led over 100 laps at Richmond six times now in his Cup career and not won the race.

Last Week: 6TH

6.   TY GIBBS

A surprisingly uncompetitive Richmond outing for Gibbs who watched the other three Joe Gibbs Racing drivers have solid nights. His string of five straight top-10 finishes came to en end when Gibbs took the checkered flag 16th.

Last Week: 2ND

7.  CHRIS BUESCHER

The Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing driver has been a top-10 machine in recent weeks and Buescher scored another on in Richmond with his ninth place effort. Make that five top-10’s in the first seven races of 2024 for Buescher.

Last Week: 8TH

  1. ROSS CHASTAIN

The best Chastain could do in Richmond is bring his car home with a decent finish and he did that with a 15th-place effort despite hanging around the top-10 most of the night. The Trackhouse Racing team needs to find some of the speed that has been lost in recent weeks.

Last Week: 7TH

  1. CHASE ELLIOTT

There has been life in the Hendrick Motorsports No. 9 car and Elliott posted his first top-five of the season Sunday night in Richmond. Could the former champion be back on track to join his Hendrick Motorsports running mates with better performance in the coming weeks?

Last Week: NR

  1. RYAN BLANEY

The Team Penske driver has hit a rough patch after three straight top-five finishes. Blaney now has ended up outside the top-10 in the last three outings including his disappointing 19th Sunday night in Richmond.

Last Week: 10TH

Dropped Out: Tyler Reddick
