Dolly Parton and Rachel Parton George on the Meaning of Their Cookbook’s Title and More
The sisters appeared on SiriusXM’s ‘The Jess Cagle Show with Julia Cunningham.’
Dolly Parton and her sister Rachel Parton George discussed their new cookbook – “Good Lookin’ Cookin’: A Year of Meals – A Lifetime of Family, Friends, and Food” – on “The Jess Cagle Show with Julia Cunningham” on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy (Ch. 102).
During their appearance, Dolly and Rachel explained the meaning behind their cookbook’s title and shared fond memories about their parents’ cooking. Dolly also shared that she thinks Julia Cunningham is hilarious!
Regarding the book title, Dolly said: “There’s an old Hank Williams song called ‘Hey, good lookin’ – what ya got cookin’? How’s about cookin’ somethin’ up with me?’ And we always sing that when we’re in the kitchen. And anybody would show up, anybody in the kitchen would sing that. So when we were talking about putting the book together, we thought, ‘Hey, good lookin’ cookin’!”
Released on September 17, “Good Lookin’ Cookin’” features Dolly and Rachel’s family recipes arranged by month, including meals for Thanksgiving, Valentine’s Day, and New Year’s. The book is published by Ten Speed Press, an imprint of Random House.
In an Instagram post announcing the cookbook, Dolly wrote, “I love good cooking, but not as much as I love my sister Rachel. So, getting to combine the two was a joy beyond belief for me. We hope you have as much fun reading these stories as we did putting them together.”
SiriusXM’s “The Jess Cagle Show with Julia Cunningham” airs Monday through Friday at 2pm ET on Radio Andy (Ch. 102) and is available anytime on the SiriusXM app.
