  • Mark Goodman | email
    Weekdays 6 am – 10 am ET
    Mondays - Thursdays 9 pm – 11 pm ET
Mark confesses he's more nostalgic for vinyl than cassettes, but this original MTV VJ admits the '80s were very good to him. Best '80s band? "REM." Best '80s event? "Live Aid." Best interview? "Paul McCartney. After the interview he personally got on the phone and made a dinner reservation for me!"

  • Nina Blackwood | email
    Weekdays 1 pm - 4 pm ET
    Mondays - Thursdays 11 pm - 1 am ET
    Saturdays 8 pm - 12 am ET
    Sundays 10 am - 1 pm ET
When Nina saw an ad in Billboard for a new music TV channel, "I sent my resume and 8x10. After two auditions, they hired me as the first MTV VJ." She had a great time in the '80s despite a fashion faux pas or two: "I had a jacket that could be folded up into a purse." Worst interview? "Frank Zappa."

  • Martha Quinn | email
    Weekdays 10 am - 1 pm & 7 pm - 9 pm ET

It was a hot day in July when Quinn learned of MTV. "Someone said the words that would impact my life forever: 'That's what you should do Martha, you should be a VJ.' I spent my college years doing TV commercials and working at my college radio station. The perfect combination!" The rest is history.

  • Alan Hunter | email
    Weekdays 4 pm - 7 pm ET
    Saturdays 2 pm - 5 pm ET
    Sundays 1 pm - 4 pm ET
Currently partner in the film/TV production company HunterFilms and creator of the entertainment complex WorkPlay, Hunter was acting-slash-bartending in NYC when he was tapped to be one the five original MTV VJs. "They gave me the job and sweated the first six months, wondering if they’d made a mistake." Most interesting interview? "Ozzy Osbourne; he was speaking in tongues."
